Difference between being true to yourself and being authentic

I hear a lot this phrase: you must be authentic if you want to make it. I am not such a fan of this phrase, simply because it tends to make huge pressure, especially on young people. Pressure to be something extraordinary, something that nobody ever has been, done, made before. Why so? Why is it so bad to do something that someone else has done already? It is ridiculous to think that way.

And I am not saying you should steal ideas of others because your egoic mind thinks that is the only way to succeed. When your ideas come out of your imagination (your soul) and not egoic, rational mind you are automatically doing something unique on this world. You cannot repeat anybodies steps because you are you, and you have your own unique approach, unique skills, unique life.

Instead of forcing yourself to be authentic, I recommend using the phrase being true to yourself, and doing what you are genuinely excited to do regardless of everything and everybody else outside. By staying true to yourself while you are talking to yourself, to the other people or when you create something, you are simultaneously being authentic. Free yourself from the old paradigm in order to be whoever you wish to be, and that is in every case your most authentic self.

With gratitude,

Natalija
